My philosophy

I am passionate about the benefits of yoga for health and wellness and I strive to make the practice available and accessible to all.  I promote yoga for real bodies of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities.   All the time I hear people say,  “I can’t do yoga, I’m not flexible” but I want you to know you don’t have to be flexible to do yoga!  I want participants in the the yoga classes that I facilitate to have fun, laugh and enjoy themselves.  And it is very important to me to provide yoga classes that are comfortable and safe places where the focus is more on how we feel in a posture or form than how we look.  That is my goal and commitment.

Note: I do not use physical touch for hands on assists in any of my classes.

My training

In July of 2018 I completed the 220 Hour yoga teacher training with Yoga Legacy of Raleigh, NC.  I also have certificates in Senior Yoga, Yoga Modifications and Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga.  I am a teacher but also a student and because learning should never stop, in October of 2018 I enrolled in the 300 hour yoga teacher training program at Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC.  In April of 2019 I also completed the 20 hour Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) training with David Emerson (from the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at Justice Resource Institute) at the Wilmington Yoga Center in Wilmington, NC.

Seva – Serving the Community

During my Yoga Legacy yoga teacher training I became involved with the Yoga Legacy Seva program which supports the local community by bringing yoga to underserved people in our area. Through the Seva program I have taught classes for clients and staff of InterAct, a local Wake County, NC non-profit that serves victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault whose mission is to end the cycle of domestic and sexual violence in our community.

It is my intention to donate a portion of the profits from my yoga teaching to support non-profits that work to empower women, end violence against women and organizations that build strong families and support young boys and girls to achieve their full potential.

Other

In my free time I also enjoy reading, trail running and hiking, mountain biking, paddle boarding and spending time laughing and being outdoors with my family and friends.  I am also a certified running coach with Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).

Thanks for checking me out!  Hope to see you on the mat soon!

May your mind be calm,

May your body be strong,

May your spirit be brave &

May your heart be filled with love!

Namaste,

Jennifer
